The Luna Gitana Cultural and Artistic Association was founded in Ljubljana in 2005 as a non-profit association of flamenco culture lovers, united above all by their desire to learn about and promote the art of flamenco. I took over the leadership of the association in 2020.
Our main objective is to raise public interest in the culture of flamenco in Slovenia and to enable all those who are attracted to this genre to learn it here with the help of renowned, experienced teachers. To this end, we organize regular flamenco classes at different levels of difficulty, intensive seminars, flamenco evenings, round-table discussions, lectures on flamenco dance and music, as well as performances and guest appearances by foreign artists for flamenco enthusiasts in Ljubljana.
In addition to learning about traditional flamenco, we also offer opportunities to participate in female gypsy dances, urban flamenco, art therapy events and other community and cultural gatherings.
We believe that in today’s world, there is a need to create a space and community where we can have the opportunity for physical, spiritual and mental development and recharge. To this end, these music and dance cultures, which draw on community traditions, are an attractive, light, playful and at the same time powerful tool.
